Our Programmes
Climate Change, Adaptation, Resilience and Disaster Management.
Climate Change is a global challenge, but its effects are not experienced equally. Developing and conflict effected countries like Somalia are the most vulnerable to the impact of climate change. There is an urgent need to identify the national and local priorities for addressing the threat of climate change, in national and regional contexts, we work with policy makers, governments, companies, and civil society organisations to develop effective policies and programmes, focusing on:
- How to better understand cascading and compounding risks of climate change, conflict, and peace
- How to support areas of reform to support institutional arrangements for better climate risk management and adaptation
- How to finance and create incentive structures for climate adaptation and resilience
- How to minimise, remedy and manage climate change related disasters
- How to develop climate change awareness
- How to change production and consumption behaviour

Women, Democracy and Peacebuilding.
Gender is not synonymous with women; rather it is a concept that captures the dynamic relationship between and among men and women in diverse social settings. We go beyond the traditional ways of seeing issues of gender by adopting an inclusive gender perspective which gives equal attention to both men and women and their relationships and see them as active agents and participants in peacebuilding, reconciliation and healing. We focus on:
- How to realize the policy objectives (UNSCR 1325) related to women, peace and security
- How to strengthen the leadership role of women in political processes and activities
- How to create a learning and mentoring relationship between the experienced and young women peacebuilders
